[Updated date] Walking path Meuser Street toward Worm Valley opens Dec. 8
Starting Friday, Dec. 8 (date updated 30-11-23), local residents and hikers will be able to cross a new footpath under the tracks to the Worm Valley. ProRail B.V. will close the unguarded level crossing on Meuserstraat in Haanrade on Dec. 11, 2023.
The new, semi-paved walking path toward the Worm Valley begins at the T-junction of Haanraderweg and Meuserstraat. It leads to the former cattle tunnel. This tunnel has been refurbished and is now a pedestrian tunnel. Here pedestrians towards the Wormdal can pass under the railroad. Management and maintenance vehicles of the municipality, water board and ProRail, can also use the tunnel.

New walking trail will be closed overnight
For social safety and to reduce recreational pressure in the Worm Valley nature reserve, the path will be closed at night. This will be done using two gates. One gate near the small tunnel and a second gate near Meuser Street. A timer will cause the gates to lock automatically. This will probably be between 19:00 and 07:00.
The crossing on Meuser Street will close the week of Dec. 11
On December 11, ProRail will close the unguarded level crossing Meuserstraat with fences. From then on, you can walk from Meuser Street only via the new footpath and tunnel to the Worm Valley.
At the beginning of 2024, ProRail will remove the level crossing completely. As soon as we know exactly when this will happen, we will let local residents know.
