Day of action on Pannesheiderstraat Kerkrade

On Tuesday, July 19, an integral day of action took place on the Pannesheiderstraat in Kerkrade. During this action, coordinated by the municipality of Kerkrade, the bailiff collected part of outstanding debts from the municipality at two addresses.

Following outstanding claims by residents to the municipality of Kerkrade as a result of wrongfully received welfare benefits, the bailiff seized cash and subsequently real estate.

Bags containing 25 kilograms of dried hemp with an estimated street value of 100,000 euros were also found at a location on Pannesheiderstraat. These bags were confiscated by police. Police are conducting further investigations into this.

Collaboration

The action is the result of cooperation between various government partners such as the municipality of Kerkrade, police, tax authorities, the Public Prosecution Service and the UWV. Supported by the Regional Information and Expertise Center Limburg (RIEC), these partners work together to tackle undermining crime. This is to ensure a safe and honest society.

Major social impact

Undermining crime involves intertwining the upper world with the underworld. Criminals abuse facilities and structures to develop their illegal activities. This type of crime has major social consequences.
