Separate waste at school? Yes, you can!
Beginning January 1, 10 elementary school in Kerkrade will receive litter bins to separate waste. The bins contribute to conscious and sustainable behavior among students. And they help talk about waste separation, climate and sustainability in the classroom.

It is important for children to be aware of the impact of their behavior on the environment. After all, their future is at stake. Nearly 70 percent of children see climate change as a global emergency. By focusing on sustainability in schools, children gain a better understanding of sustainability. They learn what the effects of climate change are and how they can do their part to combat it.
Sustainability as a theme in education
The placement of the bins also creates space to talk about climate with the children. Children are encouraged to separate waste and pay attention to the use of energy. Because they are actively involved in this at school, they acquire sustainable habits. For example, the teacher has someone check at the end of each day that all the lights and computers are off.
The waste bins will be paid for entirely by the municipality. Movare will additionally install a green container at each school.
