Evening closing extended, elementary school closes week earlier
The Cabinet extends the measures in place since Nov. 28, 2021, through at least Friday, Jan. 14, 2022. Also, elementary school, special elementary school and BSO will close the week before the Christmas vacations.
The number of corona infections is still very high and many corona patients are still hospitalized. However, it does seem tentative that we are past this peak of the delta variant. So the effects of the measures and our combined efforts are visible. But as long as hospitals are full and regular treatments and surgeries are postponed, we must continue to reduce the virus.
In addition, there is reason for Health and caution due to the new omikron variant. This variant is expected to replace the delta variant in the coming weeks. There are still many uncertainties about infectivity, protection by current vaccines and severity of disease.
