Administrators Border Labor Maastricht and Kerkrade go for joint Euroregional labor mobility strategy
Earlier this year, the South Limburg center municipalities of Heerlen, Sittard-Geleen and Maastricht already announced their commitment to an even stronger commitment to a cross-border, international labor market. Last week, both Boards of the Border Labor Service in Maastricht and Kerkrade signed a preamble containing their vision and strategy for euregional labor mobility.
The preamble creates stability and certainty at the operational level. Subsequently, further steps can be taken at the managerial, strategic and operational levels. The Boards of the Frontier Labor Service in Maastricht and Kerkrade are looking for effective deployment of their forces in this regard.
Grensarbeid Kerkrade (2016) and Grensarbeid Maastricht (2018) have been increasing and promoting Euroregional labor mobility for several years. Their partners are UWV, VDAB, the Bundesagentur für Arbeit, Jobcenter Städteregion Aachen, Grensinfopunt Aachen-Eurode, Grensinfopunt Maastricht, Gemeente Maastricht, Podium24, Gemeente Sittard-Geleen, Vidar, Gemeente Kerkrade and WSP Parkstad. MKB Parkstad-Limburg supports Grensarbeid as an associated partner. In a border region such as the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, they consider a transparent, cross-border labor market to be a basic condition for an attractive economic establishment climate with international allure.
The partners believe that the Euroregional labor market should grow further and that existing structures should be used for this purpose. A common approach is possible for example for lobbying at (eu)regional and national as well as European level, for applying for subsidies and for advocacy.
