Better living and life in Bleijerheide
Over the next few years, the municipality of Kerkrade, housing corporation HEEMwonen and other parties will be working hard to improve life and living in Bleijerheide.
This has already begun in 2019 with the so-called "Bleijerheide/Nulland attack plan. However, this was mainly about safety. Also, the area of the old high-rise apartments has been renewed with the unique project SUPERLOCAL. Now it is the turn of the rest of Bleijerheide.
Large investment
To improve life and living in Bleijerheide, the parties have received money from the state, province and City Region Parkstad Limburg. And with the money contributed by HEEMwonen and the municipality itself, a total of some 7.6 million euros will be spent in the neighborhood in the coming years. This money will go toward buying up poorly maintained owner-occupied homes that will then be sustainably refurbished or make room for sustainable new construction. It also looks at what can be done with vacant properties and vacant land. With all the actions taken, HEEMwonen and the municipality are also trying to convince other parties and local residents to get involved in improving the quality of life in Bleijerheide.
Moving forward together
Alderman Weijers (Ruimtelijke Ordening/Volkshuisvesting: "The residents of Bleijerheide have been troubled by the problems in the neighborhood for years. It is now time to move forward together in the area. Because the residents deserve that. Of course we also need the help and contribution of the residents for this. Through the contributions of the other parties, we can now tackle the problems in a big way. In SUPERLOCAL, we have seen that we can achieve a lot together and now we will continue that line in the rest of Bleijerheide."
What is already happening in Bleijerheide?
All sorts of things have already been picked up in Bleijerheide.
Attack plan Bleijerheide/Nulland
This includes things like dealing with drug nuisance, residential nuisance, room rental and
mailbox properties, youth nuisance, (residential) burglaries and deterioration of the
neighborhood.
Prick Forest Neighborhood Park
Together with the Prickbos working group, we looked at what we could do with neighborhood park
Prickbos. Outcome is that the building and public space will be addressed. The
Playground will have everything under management.
Monastery Wing Pannesheide
At Monastery Pannesheide, the municipality is working with Steenvlinder on housing in the old monastery wing. Here there will be handmade houses and the surrounding space will be redeveloped. The neighborhood is expressly involved in this. Steenvlinder is a company that also renovates striking buildings in other places in the country and lets handymen finish the houses themselves.
SUPERLOCAL
The site of the former high-rise apartments has undergone a true metamorphosis. This is an innovative and sustainable project that will be completed this year. The four flats are making way for 130 new affordable rental homes, a common area for residents and neighbors, a new public space and a water cycle.
