What is it?
A special cemetery is a cemetery that does not belong to the municipality. For example, this cemetery belongs to a foundation or a church.
You can also establish a private cemetery for one or more graves on your own property. You will need permission from the municipality to do so.
What to do.
You must request permission from the municipality in which you wish to establish the special cemetery.
How does it work?
A special cemetery can be created by:
- a church
- a foundation or association
- a private person
How long does it take?
The municipality will make a decision within 8 weeks of receiving your application. This period may be extended once.
