What is it?

Temporary special assistance scheme for energy costs 2022/2023

Do you have a low income? And are your energy costs higher due to increased gas prices? Then you can apply for special assistance for high energy costs. This scheme is a supplement to the existing rules for special assistance. This supplement is for Kerkrade residents with an income up to 130% of the social minimum. How much you get depends on your increased instalment amount, the level of your income and your assets. Did you receive the energy supplement from us? Then we will first settle your energy allowance. Other state allowances will also be deducted if applicable. For example, the allowances of € 190 for the months of November and December 2022.

What is 130% of the assistance standard for special assistance energy costs?

The amounts (net) below are 130% of the January 1, 2023 welfare standard including vacation pay.

How does it work?

The following Requirements apply to the temporary special assistance scheme for your energy costs: you are a lawful resident of the Netherlands; you live in Kerkrade; the energy contract and rental contract are in your name; you have a maximum income up to 130% of the social minimum; you do not have sufficient assets to pay the costs yourself; you can demonstrate that you have high energy costs due to increased energy prices that you cannot pay yourself.

Energy surcharge 2022 and 2023

Do you have an income up to 120% of the social minimum?

Then you are probably eligible for the energy allowance of €1,300 for 2022. Have you not yet received or applied for it? If so, apply for the energy supplement first before applying for this temporary energy cost special assistance scheme. Your energy supplement will be deducted from the reimbursement of the temporary special assistance scheme for high energy costs.

For the disbursement of the energy surcharge of €1,300 for 2023, we are still awaiting further guidelines from the state. As soon as we receive further information from the state, we will inform you about the disbursement of this energy surcharge in 2023.

What to do?

You can apply for special assistance for energy costs before you are going to incur the expense or afterwards if you have already incurred the expense.
