Booster campaign accelerated

The booster shot campaign is being accelerated. 8.5 million Dutch people aged 18 and older will be offered the booster shot before the end of January. This way we increase protection against the highly contagious omikron variant and reduce the spread of the virus.

In total, some 300,000 booster pricks will be taken in South Limburg. To get this job done, the GGD is scaling up to 70,000 pricks per week. This is significantly more than the 59,000 shots per week during the busiest period in the first vaccination round. To increase capacity, extra staff will be deployed and the vaccination location in MECC Maastricht will open its doors again. This doubles the number of vaccination lines in Maastricht from 14 to 28.

Vaccination sites

All vaccination locations are open daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Vaccination site Geleen, Hofkamp 31, 6161 DC Geleen.
  • XL vaccination location Rodahal, Europaplein 1, 6461 AJ Kerkrade.
  • XL vaccination location MECC P4, Gaetano Martinolaan 73, 6229 GV Maastricht, open from Dec. 19.

Interval from six to three months

Everyone is eligible for the booster if they were fully vaccinated or infected with coronavirus at least 3 months ago. This was previously 6 months.

Invitations | appointment scheduling

People are invited for booster shots by age group. This is done through social media and by mail. If people want to make an appointment by phone, they should wait for the invitation letter. Everyone is asked to register for the booster shot or vaccination online as much as possible. This is to keep the overloaded call centers available as much as possible for people who cannot register online. www.uitlegprikafspraak.nl explains how to make an appointment online. The Rijksoverheids Web site shows who is due when. For all other info, visit the GGD website
