Letter from ProRail February 2024
Subject: removal of Meuser Street crossing
Dear Sir, Madam,
The level crossing on Meuser Street is now closed. Fencing was installed on December 11, 2023. In February, we will permanently remove the level crossing. This letter tells you more about the upcoming work.
Work on Meuser street crossing
Soon we will be performing work at the level crossing. We are removing the level crossing flooring at Meuser Street. In addition, we are installing permanent fencing. We are also repairing the paths and leveling the ground. Below you can see when we will be working in your neighborhood. The work can cause inconvenience. We understand that this can be annoying for you. Our people therefore try to take the surroundings into account as much as possible. For example, by not operating machines longer than strictly necessary.

Putting machines on the track
Machines are needed to carry out the work. These will be placed on and also removed from the track near Wolfsweg 55 in Eygelshoven during the above period.
Why close?
The use of level crossings in the Netherlands is increasing. More trains are running and trains are becoming faster and quieter. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW) has instructed ProRail to remove 180 publicly accessible Non-Actively Secured Level Crossings: NABO (unsecured level crossings in popular parlance) on the passenger network as soon as possible. At a NABO, people have to be on their own alert for an approaching train. This makes these level crossings life-threatening. Especially if they are on publicly accessible land. The Meuser Street crossing is one of them.
