Brunssum and Kerkrade join forces for self-development participants
The Development Center in the Flexiforum is once again making great strides thanks to a partnership with Betere Buren, the human development company of the municipality of Brunssum. Each week, a number of participants travel between Kerkrade and Brunssum to gain work experience. This cooperation is Parkstad-wide and brings together unique strengths of each municipality. This creates a diverse offering for the participants and valuable cooperation between the municipalities.
Like the Kerkrade Development Center, Betere Buren works to educate, guide and coach residents covered by the Participation Act. A number of participants from Kerkrade have been working in the various workshops at Betere Buren since April. Participants from Brunssum gain work experience in the Exchange Shop of the Flexiforum.
Since it is a problem for some to travel to their workplace, vans will be used to pick them up and drop them off. In the near future, the participants hope to conclude the exchange by obtaining a practical certificate from VISTA College.
Betere Buren, the human development company of the municipality of Brunssum, offers various learning lines for people covered by the Participation Act. Through these learning lines, participants are prepared for paid employment. The Development Center in Kerkrade focuses on seeking and finding employment opportunities and developing talents. Participants, residents on benefits under the Participation Act, are prepared here for the labor market. The Elisabeth Stift, Flexiforum and the municipality of Kerkrade, among others, offer apprenticeships to achieve this.
