Burgernet
Safety in your living environment is of great importance. Safety is not only a task of the municipality of Kerkrade or the emergency services, but also of you. We could use your help as a citizen. Burgernet, a unique collaboration between municipality, police and citizens, is a means to contribute to that safety.
How does Burgernet work?
In case of a robbery, burglary or missing person, the (police) control room can set up a Burgernet action. If you are a Burgernet participant (free participation) and you live in the area concerned, you will receive a spoken message or a text message (SMS) on your mobile or fixed telephone, depending on the function of your telephone. As a Burgernet participant, it is also possible to receive e-mail messages regarding safety incidents in your neighborhood.
During one of these message forms, you will be told what is going on and asked, for example, to look out for a clearly defined person or vehicle. If you see something as a result, you can report it by calling 0800-0011 (free of charge). You will then be put in direct contact with an employee of the police emergency room. In this way, you will assist in the investigation and contribute to a safe living environment.
Burgernet in practice?
Everyone has had to deal with a robbery, burglary or a missing person in his or her immediate neighborhood at some point. These events have a great impact on immediate family, friends and acquaintances, but certainly on the neighborhood as well.
