Client Council Work & Income moved to Flexiforum

The Client Council Work & Income Kerkrade has officially moved into the Flexiforum in Kerkrade as of Thursday, May 27. The Client Council was previously located on the Hoofdstraat in the center of Kerkrade for about eight years.

Chairman Henk Derix of the Client Council Work & Income: "We are happy with our new accommodation. We are in a beautiful, customer-friendly building that is easily accessible by public transportation. An ideal place in other words."

The Clients' Council has a few tasks. First, it represents the interests of people who receive benefits from the municipality of Kerkrade. Henk Derix: "For example, we also provide support in debt assistance. And we devise solutions on how people can get out of debt." The Client Council also has a mediating role if parents want to make use of the Leergeld Foundation. In addition, the Client Council gives solicited and unsolicited advice on social matters to the Kerkrade municipal council as well as the municipal council.

Alderman Wiermans stresses the importance of a well-functioning Client Council in the municipality. The new accommodation in the Flexiforum certainly contributes to this, he says. Huub Wiermans: "The Client Council Work & Income is a highly valued partner of the municipality of Kerkrade in our joint efforts to offer people on social assistance the prospect of a paid job, or if that is not possible, a meaningful use of social time, such as volunteer work. The client council is a welcome addition to the diversity of organizations and functions in the Flexiforum."

On average each month, the Client Council receives between 25 and 30 requests for help. "We have enough to do," said chairman Henk Derix. "Ideally, we would soon be out of work, because that would mean that there would be no more problem cases in Kerkrade. But that's not very realistic." The Clients' Council consists of about 10 volunteers. People who want to use the Clients' Council can do so by appointment.
