Economy, employment and sustainability come together in Spekholzerheide

On Wednesday, Sept. 6, the official starting shot was fired for the construction of a new commercial building on Wenckebachstraat in the Spekholzerheide business park.

Project developer Wyckerveste is investing nearly twenty million euros in the new, energy-efficient commercial building. It will be 15,000 square meters in size and will soon house three companies. If everything goes according to plan, the building will be ready in the middle of next year.

Wallsupply and WSP will rent space

Two companies are already known to locate here: Wallsupply and WSP Parkstad. They both rent a part of the new building.
Wallsupply is a wholesaler of products for wall coverings and decoration from Sittard. The company employs about 45 people. WSP Parkstad guides people with a distance to the labor market to a suitable workplace. It employs about 230 people. WSP was already located in the Spekholzerheide business park but is now moving to a beautiful new building.

Spekholzerheide business park flourishes

The arrival of the new building is doing Bedrijventerrein Spekholzerheide good. The area is starting to look better and better. More and more old buildings are disappearing and new, energy-efficient business premises are taking their place. In these buildings there is room for new companies. Or space for existing companies to grow.

More and more companies are choosing Kerkrade

More and more companies are choosing Kerkrade. For example, the international trading company Commaxx recently chose Kerkrade as the location of their new headquarters. And Ranpak also chose to move its new European headquarters to Kerkrade.

Alderman Alexander Geers (Economic Affairs): "We as a municipality are of course extremely happy with the arrival of new companies like Wallsupply and the growth of existing companies like WSP. Because that is good for the economy and employment in our city. We can also only welcome the arrival of energy-efficient buildings in the business parks. After all, these are all important steps towards the Kerkrade of the future. This building project is therefore a great example of how economy, employment and sustainability go hand in hand!"
