Exposition WE...breaking the circle of violence

From June 3 to June 24, the free outdoor exhibition called "WE...break the circle of violence" will be on display in Parkstad, on the van Grunsvenplein in Heerlen.

More than 25 municipalities and regions are using this national exposition to raise awareness of domestic violence and child abuse in their regions.

The 28 portraits show that everyone can play a role in making domestic violence and child abuse negotiable. This can sometimes be just that little bit of support that helps the person take the step to break the cycle of violence.

One of these portraits was also on display Friday, June 4, in Kerkrade during the weekly market.
Alderman Leo Jongen (Welfare, Social Health) visited the markt and spoke here with experience expert Stephanie Leyenaar of Foundation 'The right link'. She developed the HelpApp with the help of the program 'Violence belongs nowhere'.

HelpApp is an app for those affected by domestic violence. This new application helps citizens get in touch faster with support in their own community. Alderman Jongen worked with Stephanie Leyenaar to bring the app to the attention of Kerkrade residents.
