Flexiforum participant Festival 't Kirchroa va Mörje

The old Campus Kerkrade has become a multifunctional building whose users provide emphatic added value for the building, the municipality of Kerkrade, the neighborhood and the users themselves.

From Campus to Flexiforum

The colorful building on Spekhofstraat smiles at you, and once inside, it buzzes with activity. You might hear music from The Maestro & The European Pop Orchestra during their rehearsals or notes of another genre from Stichting Popmuziek Parkstad. Smell the scent of a delicious cup of coffee at the hip coffee & lunch bar Root Foods or see the moms and dads taking their kids to children's center Ratatouille. Catch a smile from someone who just scored a beautiful coat at the Ruilwinkel Kerkrade or from a proud budding artist at the Vrije Akademie Parkstad. Just a few of the senses that can be stimulated when you enter the collective building. From practice room to kitchen under construction, sports room to meeting room, education to entrepreneur. For rent as a permanent space or event venue. A different world behind every door. With still more than enough ambitions for the future.

The Flexiforum provides a platform to connect on all kinds of functions and thereby stimulate cohesion on a social, societal and economic level. It is precisely the different insertions, backgrounds, competences and ideas of the people who meet here that form its strength. The Flexiforum is an active community focused on: learning, working & living!

Housed:

  • Social functions and government: culture, learning and working, poverty alleviation, etc.
  • Semi-commercial activities: apprenticeship/employment and career guidance.

  • Commercial activities: restaurant, office rental and small-scale business.
  • Events: concerts, exhibitions, business meetings and markets (both indoor and outdoor).

And in addition to preserving the building of no less than 14,400 m2 in size and the surrounding grounds, the Flexiforum pays special attention to sustainability in the form of making its energy use more sustainable. The building is equipped with 642 solar panels that produce almost 300,000 Kwh of green electricity annually.

Thursday, Oct. 19: Flexiforum, a world of possibilities

Spekhofstraat 15 - Kerkrade - 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. - free entrance

Several activities are waiting for you in the central hall of the Flexiforum. You can take a guided tour on the theme of the redevelopment and the new possibilities offered by the Flexiforum. The Ruilwinkel Kerkrade is organizing a fashion show from 2 p.m. with Alderman René van Drunen as special model. In cooperation with Relim, cushions and new clothes are designed from old jeans and old work clothes. They too will show their work in the fashion show! The Vrije Akademie Parkstad is hosting a workshop with recycle materials from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and of course they are manning a booth with their work in the main hall. The Ratatouille Children's Center is hosting a coloring contest at 1 p.m. for toddlers. Root Foods will provide snacks and drinks and Kirchroa ruumt óp will be present with their positive impact and a game to playfully impart information about gold, e-waste and recycling and create awareness about the value of waste.

And as if that were not enough, this open day is one of the collection points for "Limburg Helps Give a Coat, Warm a Heart," because once again this year the municipality of Kerkrade is collecting warm winter coats and thus drawing attention to poverty in our province. All coats will get a (local) destination. So if you have a spare coat, take it and hand it in!
