Municipality of Kerkrade submits Wbmgp application following positive council decision

Following a positive decision by the municipal council, the municipality of Kerkrade submitted an application under the Special Measures for Metropolitan Problems Act (Wbmgp). With this application, the municipality is taking an important step toward implementing targeted measures to improve the quality of life and safety in certain neighborhoods.

Alderman Geers: "This application will give us more opportunities to improve the quality of life and safety in our neighborhoods. In this way, we are working to create strong, safe, and attractive neighborhoods where residents can enjoy living."

The application focuses on the following neighborhoods: Heilust, Kaalheide, Bleijerheide, Erenstein, Rolduckerveld, and Nulland.

And the following streets and complexes: Schleidenstraat, Honéestraat, Nummer II straat, Nieuwstraat, Melchiorstraat, Burgemeester Savelberglaan, Franckstraat, Mucherveldstraat, Lempers Street, Kip Street, Deken Quodbach Avenue, Nieuwenhagerweg complex, Willem Alexander Street complex, Waubacherweg complex, St. Pieter Street, St. Pieter Street–Akkerheide complex, and Aker Street.

What is the Rotterdam Act (Wbmgp)?

The Wbmgp, also known as the Rotterdam Act, allows municipalities to take additional measures in specific neighborhoods when quality of life is under pressure.
