Kerkrade city council complete again
During the council meeting on Wednesday, May 25, six aldermen were appointed for the new administrative period, council members were admitted and citizen committee members were appointed. As a result, the municipal government in the municipality of Kerkrade is once again complete.
As a result of coalition negotiations, the parties Burgerbelangen Kerkrade, Ons Kerkrade, PvdA Kerkrade, Ouderenpartij Kerkrade and VVD Kerkrade have formed a coalition. They also proposed candidates for the aldermanic positions. These candidates were appointed by the municipal council during the council meeting.
Together with the mayor and town clerk, the aldermen make up the town's board of mayor and aldermen for the next four years.
The aldermen are:
Tim Weijers, Jo Schlangen and Alexander Geers (Burgerbelangen Kerkrade)
John Roland (Ons Kerkrade)
René van Drunen (PvdA Kerkrade)
Jo Paas (Kerkrade Elderly Party)

City Council
Vivian Lataster (CDA) has been admitted to the City Council. She was unable to attend immediately after the elections so she has now been sworn in. With the appointment of the aldermen, several council seats become vacant. These are taken by the following council members:
Jean Ritterbeeks (Civil Liberties)
Jo Severins (Civil Liberties)
Theo Wetzels (Civil Liberties)
Jo Rozema (Ons Kerkrade)
Guus Haas (PvdA)
Leon Schlenter (Elder Party)
Kerkrade City Council consists of 29 council members.
Citizen committee members
City Council gets support from citizen committee members. At the May 25 council meeting, 36 citizen committee members were appointed. They take seats on council committees. Council committees discuss council proposals first and then they are discussed by the city council at the council meeting and the city council makes decisions.
The town council is the highest governing body of the town and represents all residents of Kerkrade. The council sets the main lines of policy in the town and controls the municipal executive.
