Discussion groups informal care: "Here one word is enough"
If you care for someone else, it can be nice to share your story with people who also care for someone else. With them, one word is often enough. They understand you and can give support and advice from their own experience. Ruggesteun and Steunpunt voor Mantelzorgers Parkstad organizes discussion groups for caregivers in which meeting each other is central. In a group you get a better grip on what you experience as a caregiver.
Equal sharing and being together is a great thing. Sharing concerns, being able to ask how the other person handles something, emotional support and the exchange of practical tips are central. Support and recognition are found with each other.Two facilitators are present at the discussion groups who themselves have experience in providing informal care.
