Joint jubilee celebration Klankstadfederatie Kerkrade

Since 2010, the municipality of Kerkrade has annually organized the jubilee celebration in cooperation with the Kerkrade federation. The Kerkrade federation is the umbrella in which all Kerkrade's music associations, harmony, brass band, flute and drum corps, symphony, accordion and mandolin orchestras and the vocal choirs work together.

During this festive evening, the associations' jubilees were put in the limelight. On March 3, 47 jubilees were honored in 't Westhoes; 25 x 25 years, 10 x 40 years, 9 x 50 years and 3 x 60 years. All together 1655 years of association. All these years loyal to the music, the associations and to Kerkrade Klankstad.

This jubilee evening was also the last for Toon Peerboom as president of the Sound City Federation. In the 15 years as president, Toon "reformed" the Federation. Different objective, fitting the needs in the present time. Under his chairmanship, since 2020, one Sound City Federation has been established to which all musical groups are affiliated, vocal and instrumental. Because of his commitment, the board of the Klankstadfederatie Kerkrade proposed to its members to appoint Toon as Honorary President. With this, all members agreed. On March 9, after 15 years, he handed over the gavel to André Krings.
