Get a grip on coronavirus with local measures

The Dutch corona approach aims to maximize control of the virus, not overburden Health and protect vulnerable people in society. In the run-up to the summer period, we saw how important it is to stick to the measures. Infections declined and this allowed us to gradually relax measures.

Still, fortunately, many people live by the basic rules. But what worries us is that there are also a lot of people who don't. We see this in the recent outbreaks. If we do not turn the tide together, we risk losing our grip on the spread of the coronavirus again. And we will lose the gains we have made together in recent months.

Therefore, we support local administrators to use their powers to get the corona virus under control and we are going to tighten some national measures. This may mean that additional measures may be imposed locally, on top of the national ones in place.
