What does the flex team do? 

Kerkrade municipality's flex team consists of specialists in the fields of building and housing supervision, population administration and public order. Each specialist acts on the basis of their own authority as defined by laws and regulations. The flexteam regularly inspects homes, catering establishments and businesses. 

The purpose of the audit

The municipality has supervisory and monitoring duties in several areas. It also pays attention to countering undermining activities. Business inspections look at whether business activities comply with the zoning plan. Attention is also paid to illegal activities. These include drug crime, human trafficking or money laundering. 

Result

Mayor Petra Dassen: "The inspection at the July site went well, the companies cooperated. Violations of environmental and building legislation were found. This will be taken up further with the companies in question via summons or re-inspection. At one address there were signs of criminal offenses during this administrative inspection. The police were called in and a hemp plantation was found. It is important to take action against unsafe situations or undermining activities for the safety and livability of our city".
