Keep courage and support each other
Dear residents of Kerkrade,
Who could have imagined last year, that by 2020 we would be facing a global infectious disease? The impact the Corona virus has on us is beyond comprehension. Some are dealing with the virus itself, others are struggling to keep their businesses running, and a third see their entire social life limited to a small circle.
It is a tough time in many ways. It remains unnatural to keep distance and not shake hands. We miss the sociability, the contact. With the increase in the number of infections recently, measures have been tightened up considerably. These now mainly affect our catering entrepreneurs. That is tough and perhaps feels a bit unfair because the entrepreneurs have worked hard to comply with all the measures.
I understand that it is increasingly difficult to keep up the measures. But I ask you: keep courage and support each other in this difficult time. Show closeness, support our catering entrepreneurs by, for example, picking up a meal, wear the mouthpiece, pay attention to each other. We can do that in Kerkrade!
Petra Dassen-Housen,
your mayor
