Free In Balance course helps seniors in Kerkrade stay independent and secure on their feet

Seniors in Kerkrade who would like to remain independent and perform daily activities such as shopping or visiting family without worry can participate in the free exercise program In Balans. This program helps seniors improve their muscle strength and balance, reducing the risk of falling. It also provides a fun way to meet new people in the neighborhood and improve fitness.

What is In Balans?
In Balans is a free group training program for seniors aged 65 and older living at home, organized by the municipality of Kerkrade in cooperation with Vie and Meander Groep. The program aims to give seniors more self-confidence and help them stand more firmly on their feet. The program lasts fourteen weeks and consists of:

  • A 1.5-hour information session
  • Three course meetings (2 hours weekly)
  • Ten weeks of training sessions (1 hour twice a week)

The course is supervised by a professional trainer who is specially trained to support participants at their own level. In addition to exercises and tests to improve balance and muscle strength, participants also receive tips and a course book with clear explanations and photos of the exercises. This allows them to continue working on their progress at home as well.
