Investing in associations for a vibrant and healthy Kerkrade
Associations are indispensable for the livability and health of Kerkrade. To ensure that they can continue to function in the future, a large-scale vitality and housing survey was conducted among associations in Kerkrade.
The reason for the study was indications that some accommodations are outdated and no longer meet current and future needs. Discussions were held with sports clubs, scouting organizations, and music and singing associations, among others. A total of 31 of the 39 associations approached participated.
The results paint a predominantly positive picture: most associations are thriving and satisfied with their accommodation. Six associations require additional or alternative accommodation. Concrete solutions have been developed for this, including a phased implementation program. These proposals will be presented to the city council on February 25, 2026.
Alderman Geers emphasizes the importance of this investment: "Associations are the beating heart of our neighborhoods. By investing in suitable and future-proof accommodations, we not only strengthen the associations themselves, but also the quality of life and health of our residents."
With this investment, Kerkrade is focusing on strong associations, vibrant residents, and livable neighborhoods.
