Camping with the neighbors: Neighborhood Camping Kerkrade-West was a great success!
Last weekend Park West was transformed for three days into Buurtcamping Kerkrade West A cozy campsite where meeting was the focus.
On July 14, 15 and 16, local residents of Kerkrade-West were able to vacation with their tents in their own park. The whole weekend they could participate in various activities. Go to the silent disco, join the bingo, the scavenger hunt, old Dutch games, shuffleboard...or of course just do nothing.
But what it was mostly about was socializing with neighbors. Meeting each other, talking to each other. This is how new friendships and relationships develop, as well as ideas and collaborations. All new connections that strengthen the neighborhood. All local residents were welcome. Campers paid €2.50, visitors had free entry. This made the neighborhood camping also accessible to local residents with a smaller budget.
Neighborhood councilor John Roland also came to take a look at the campsite on Saturday: "Great to see how the neighborhood camping brings people together in a low-threshold way! All those new meetings are enormously valuable and strengthen the neighborhood. Hats off to the volunteers who put in an enormous amount of time to make this an incredibly successful weekend."
