Kerkrade host city network conference Spil in de Wijk 2023
On Thursday, June 22, 2023, the Limburg collaboration Spil in de Wijk organized for the fifth time a network conference for employees within the social domain. Kerkrade was this time's host city and received 450 interested spindles.
The day was opened in Theater Kerkrade by Mayor Petra Dassen-Housen, chairman of the day Job Zomerplaag, core team member Roeland Cleuren (Wonen Limburg) and Cor Snoeijs (board chairman Buro Spil in de Wijk).

Mayor Petra Dassen-Housen: "Spills in the neighborhood are indispensable in our society. They hear, see and feel what is going on in a neighborhood or district. They are close to the residents and know what is needed to help people. And this often requires more than the facilities or collaborations within the social domain. It is great to see how volunteers and professionals find each other to share knowledge and skills. If we bring that together properly, we help people move forward together. That's where our passion lies."
Every year, a conference is organized at a different location in the province of Limburg for professionals and volunteers working in government, housing associations, Health and welfare institutions, education and the police. After Roermond, Limbricht, Maastricht and Reuver, this year's conference landed in the municipality of Kerkrade. With over 450 participants, this was the busiest edition to date.
HuB.Kerkrade was the beating heart of this special gathering, where so-called 'Spillen' could gain inspiration and network with each other. The theme, 'Together in the neighborhood - cross-domain cooperation' was translated into 36 inspiration sessions and 12 Spil-X-Talks. More than 130 speakers (professionals and volunteers within the social domain) inspired their colleagues, working for about 115 different organizations, with best practices or challenges to think about common cases within the field.
