Kerkrade went to the polls: election updates and preliminary final results

On Wednesday, March 18, residents of Kerkrade went to the polls for the municipal elections. They cast their votes at polling stations throughout the city. Here you will find election updates and the preliminary final results.

Preliminary turnout figures

Preliminary turnout figures were released at various times throughout the day:

  • By 11:00 a.m., 12.94% of Kerkrade residents had voted, accounting for 4,913 votes
  • By 2:00 p.m., this had risen to 24%, or 9,050 voters
  • At 9:00 p.m., the count stood at 43.7%

Updates from election night

On Wednesday evening, the results of the municipal elections in Kerkrade began to trickle in. It was a tense evening, during which it became clear how the votes were distributed among the parties.

Through three mini-updates spread throughout the evening, residents were kept informed of the latest results via Facebook, Instagram, and a news post on the website. New updates were posted around 10:15 p.m., 11:15 p.m., and 12:45 a.m.

Preliminary final results

The results from all 29 polling stations have been received. This means that all votes have been counted. The seat distribution based on the preliminary final results of the 2026 Kerkrade municipal elections is as follows:

  • Citizens' Interests: 14 seats
  • OnsKerkrade: 4 seats
  • GroenLinks-PvdA: 2 seats
  • Local Alternative: 2 seats
  • SP: 1 seat
  • Kerkrade Senior Citizens' Party: 4 seats
  • CDA: 1 seat
  • VVD Kirchroa: 1 seat

These are the preliminary final results of the 2026 municipal elections in Kerkrade. The final results will be announced at a later date. The results for individual candidates will also be announced on Thursday, March 19.
