Children celebrate agreement music lesson with Queen Máxima
Music brings children together and stimulates their development. That is why the music agreement "More Harmony in Society" has been renewed and expanded. Thanks to this agreement, elementary school pupils in various Parkstad municipalities receive weekly music lessons from professional teachers. Queen Máxima was a guest at this festive afternoon, together with 200 children.
Over the past five years, nearly 8,000 children in Brunssum, Landgraaf and Kerkrade have already enjoyed music education. Now this is also becoming available to students in the rest of Parkstad Limburg. They can sing, play wind instruments, play drums and even take DJ lessons. Music makes learning more fun, stimulates creativity and helps children work together.
A festive gathering looked back on the successes of recent years and shared ambitions for the future. School choirs, a pop band and young wind players showcased their talents. A dance class brought additional atmosphere to the day.
The aldermen of Kerkrade, Brunssum and Landgraaf signed the renewed agreement. Alderman Jo Schlangen (Culture) emphasized, "Music connects, inspires and helps children grow. This agreement ensures that even more pupils have the opportunity to discover music." Queen Máxima attended as a special guest. As honorary president of Méér Muziek in de Klas, she is committed to music lessons at school.
A special moment was the presentation of the Méér Muziek in de Klas trophy to the program "More Harmony in Society. This prize was awarded in recognition of the long-term efforts to give music lessons a permanent place in primary education.
Through the cooperation between the municipalities, educational foundation MOVARE and SMK music and dance, almost eight thousand children now receive music lessons. They conclude each lesson period with a performance at school or in a theater. They can also visit concerts and theater performances. With this renewed agreement, music education gets an even stronger basis in Parkstad Limburg. More children can experience how fun and educational it is to make music together!
