Join us and seek connection in Kerkrade!

From September 25 to October 1, Kerkrade will be all about meeting and connecting during the national Week Against Loneliness. Under the motto "Join in," there will be a week of varied programs full of accessible activities. Everyone is welcome to join in.

Some of the activities 

During the Week Against Loneliness, numerous activities are being organized in Kerkrade. The week starts with kitchen table singing at SMK music & dance. There will also be neighborhood lunches, soup afternoons, coffee hours, creative workshops and much more. The Ontmoetingsbus drives through the neighborhoods, on the way to new encounters and on Friday the KletsKraam will be at the markt. The Westhoes and its partners also invite you to get moving together at Ut Jeluk van Wés. Everyone is welcome to join in. Will you come too?

Addressing loneliness

Nearly half of the Dutch population feels loneliness at some point. For 1 in 7 people this is even a major problem, with consequences for health, well-being and happiness. Alderman Jo Paas (Integral Elderly Policy): "As a municipality, we consider the theme of loneliness enormously important and we are fully committed to this within the local approach against loneliness. Now, during the Week against Loneliness, but also structurally through initiatives such as the Neighborhood Links, the Meeting Bus, the Shopping Bus, the Loneliness Hotline and the program "Happy Ageing in Kerkrade. Together with more than 30 partners in the Coalition Together Against Loneliness, we ensure that no one is alone."
