Royal Distinction for Mr. Bremen

Mr. P.H.M. Bremen received a Royal Decoration last Sunday, March 13, from the hands of Mrs. Petra Dassen, Mayor of Kerkrade, for his merits as chairman of Table Tennis Association Kerkrade '68. He was appointed Member in the Order of Orange-Nassau.

The presentation took place during the general membership meeting of Table Tennis Association Kerkrade '68 at the Catharinahoes.

Mr. Bremen had been a member of Table Tennis Association Kerkrade '68 for 50 years in 2021. In 1971, Mr. Bremen began as a youth member of TTV '68. After a few years of membership, his involvement in the association increases. He is active in several committees, and among other things is responsible for the material management.

In 1980, he joins the board. Where from 1992 he assumes the role of chairman. He turns out to be a very enthusiastic chairman. He always participates in meetings of the table tennis association. And maintains warm ties with the municipality.

In 2000, a difficult period begins, due to various causes, membership decreases drastically. No reason for Mr. Bremen to sit still. Various actions were taken to maintain the number of members and a lot of attention was paid to the youth. Schools were contacted. On his only day off, he attended the training sessions given in place of gym classes. Schools are also visited. All this with varying success to recruit new members.

It proved difficult to bind youth to the association, due to the ever-changing interest in different sports. Mr. Bremen never lost his motivation and to this day is still the driving force to keep organizing actions.

Members of TTK '68 describe Mr. Bremen as a very committed and loyal person. He is pleasant to deal with and is always there for another. In his role as president, he is jointly responsible for the construction and daily management of the association. He is a great value to TTV Kerkrade '68 and to Kerkrade association life in general. All his input is greatly appreciated. After 50 years of membership and more than 40 years of commitment to the board, this Royal Decoration is more than deserved.
