Royal decoration for Mr. Offermans

Mr. H.J. (Henk) Offermans received a Royal Decoration from Ms. Petra Dassen-Housen, Mayor of Kerkrade, on April 16 for his years of active involvement with Volleybalcombinatie (VC) Furos of Kerkrade. He was appointed Member in the Order of Orange-Nassau.

Mr. Offermans has been a playing member of FC Furos for over 40 years. Of these 40 years, he has been very actively involved on a voluntary basis for over 30 years as volleyball trainer, coach and youth department coordinator. For many years he has been the linchpin around which the entire FC Furos youth committee revolves. Mr. Offermans is also coordinator of "Cool Moves Volleyball" for the youngest members of the club.

For 30 years each season, Mr. Offermans has been the trainer of at least one team participating in the competition of the Dutch Volleyball Association (NeVoBo). With the exception of school vacations, training sessions are held throughout the year. Heef Offermans spends many hours giving training sessions, coaching matches and having conversations with youth members and their parents. The diplomas to qualify in the coaching field he obtained in his spare time in Zeist

Since the 2000-2001 volleyball season, Mr. Offermans has been involved in the recruitment of sponsors for VC Furos. During the 2010 season, he additionally set up FC Furos' social media channels, which he has been keeping up to date ever since. The latter task has become a lot heavier since the advent of the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG) because posting of images has since been subject to restrictions.

In addition to his involvement with VC Furos, Mr. Offermans has also been a very involved member of carnival association De Wölksjer for many years.
