Launching Medlands Parkstad

On December 12, 2024, Medlands Parkstad was launched. Medlands is a powerful collaboration between companies, knowledge institutions and municipalities to further strengthen the region's medical technology sector.

This partnership allows hospitals and healthcare facilities worldwide to have essential and advanced healthcare resources, medicines and equipment within 24 hours.

Attract talent and create 3,000 new jobs

The collaboration focuses on attracting, training and retaining talent, with the goal of growing the sector from 6,000 to 9,000 jobs by 2030.

Collaborating with educational institutions such as Maastricht University, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and VISTA College creates a solid foundation for training programs that meet the growing demand of the Medtech sector.

Alexander Geers, Alderman Economy for the Municipality of Kerkrade, says, "There are already more people working in this sector than in construction or hospitality. With this cooperation, we want to retain the talent in the region and attract people who will keep the workforce up to par. The growth of this sector thus provides an important contribution in the livability of the region and offers opportunities for living, working, living and learning here."
