Ribbon ceremony 2023 - Ms. Stams
Presentation of Royal Decoration Member in the Order of Orange Nassau to Ms. M.J.R. Stams by Mayor Petra Dassen

Teacher Vazom (1986 to present).
Ms. Stams teaches 3 courses of 20 lessons per year. She spends many more hours with her students. She has a lot of contact with them outside of course hours and assists them with advice. She mainly looks at the person and his artistic development and not at the time.
Artist Workshop K (1988 to present)
Ms. Stams works with great passion, drive simplicity and her own style. For 'Workshop K' she has a portofolio with the text: "A portrait, a person or an animal, everything you can see I depict in my way Coarse, direct, looking and doing." Modeling stops when the essence is in the image AND a work is only good when the viewer continues to be captivated by it; even after many viewing moments.
Anatomy and coarse expression but so true to nature are essential components of her work in stoneware and bronze. She enjoys fame in many fields and her talent has not gone unnoticed.
In the project Mining Monument 't Koelleëve on a traffic circle in Eygelshoven/Kerkrade, she underlines her talent, empathy and mentorship. Entirely in her own way, she has read up on and immersed herself in the perception of sculptures on a traffic circle, in the miner's past, in mining and in the social life of the time. Much of the reliefs she made with her daughter in Workshop K and fired in her clay kiln at home.
