More Contact still seeking participants

Do you sometimes feel lonely and in need of more contact? Then the online training More Contact might be for you! The training has recently started in Kerkrade, but there is still plenty of room to participate.

An online training program against loneliness may sound crazy, but it's not. More Contact offers tools for easier social contact and is intended for people who want to feel more confident in social interaction. Eva Geelen of Bureau Over-ons, which developed the training: "We teach participants to be open to new contacts and train them in social skills. Social barriers are inherent in the person himself. By learning more about making and keeping contact, you work on sustainable improvement. By always focusing on the positive, people start to see the world no longer through gray glasses, but fun, colored glasses."

Enthusiast

Alderman Leo Jongen ( Elder Policy and Public Health) is enthusiastic about the online training, which is intended for adults aged 18 and older. People who would like more social contact and are willing to do something for it themselves. "More Contact is a new digital tool that we use in reducing loneliness," he says. "Nowadays almost everyone has a computer or laptop to receive emails on and a cell phone with whatsapp. At first you probably have to cross a threshold to sign up, but this training will definitely pay off. I am convinced of that."

Not difficult

More Contact is an individual self-help program and is part of the Vie- Life in Motion program. Impuls staff members guide participants through the training. Participants receive a personalized e-mail every day for 60 days with information, awareness exercises and practical assignments. They spend about 10 minutes each day with the training.
