New local covenant for targeted seniors

On Wednesday, December 1, the municipality of Kerkrade and the Seniorenraad Kerkrade foundation signed a new covenant updating mutual cooperation agreements.

The Seniorenraad Kerkrade is a foundation established in 1993. 26.1% of the population in Kerkrade is 65 years of age or older. A large group of people therefore, with their own wishes and problems, who need specific advocacy.

Alderman Jongen (Elder Policy): "The Seniorenraad Kerkrade advises the municipality of Kerkrade and (healthHealth and welfare institutions, solicited and unsolicited, on matters in general that concern the elderly."

The Seniors Council is therefore the consultation platform of senior citizens' organizations with the municipality and institutions such as MeanderGroep Zuid-Limburg, Impuls, Zuyderland Medical Center and HOZL(Huisartsen Oostelijk Zuid Limburg).

Margriet van Leusen (Chairman Seniorenraad Kerkrade): "The opinions of the Seniorenraad focus on housing, participation and improving the position of the elderly in Kerkrade society."

The old covenant expired last year, so the cooperation agreements between the municipality of Kerkrade and the Seniorenraad had to be redefined.
