New enterprise fund helps business parks in Kerkrade grow further

The Municipality of Kerkrade, Bedrijventerreinenmanagement (BTM) Parkstad Limburg and the Samenwerkende bedrijventerreinen Kerkrade (SBK) are together starting a new entrepreneurs' fund for the business parks. On Monday, March 13, they put their signatures to the agreements they made together.

The Entrepreneurs' Fund is a pot of money containing a total of €200,000. It is intended to pay for joint expenses that are useful to all companies on the Kerkrade business parks. Such as having welcome signs made at the entrances to the grounds, or installing AEDs at various locations on the grounds.

Working together for improvement

The purpose of the fund is to make the business areas better and to make them grow. The entrepreneurial fund also encourages the various entrepreneurs in the areas to work together in this endeavor. The cooperation of businesses in improving their business parks is called entrepreneurial participation.

Alderman Alexander Geers (Economic Affairs): "We give confidence to BTM and SBK to further improve the business parks in Kerkrade in a way they think is right. The municipality thinks this is important because these sites are very important to our economy. The companies located here provide almost half of all jobs in Kerkrade. With this amount of €200,000, the municipality is helping entrepreneurs to get things done together on their business parks."

Gijs Hilhorst (SBK chairman): "The SBK is working hard to further grow the business parks in Kerkrade. This fund helps us to do that even better. The entrepreneurs decide together what they need on the grounds, the municipality makes sure they can carry it out. The SBK and the municipality will cooperate even more than before because of this."

All projects paid for with money from the enterprise fund must be implemented within three years.
