New Street with old and new

During the Euroderaad (joint council Kerkrade-Herzogenrath), the request was made to the mayors of Kerkrade and Herzogenrath to inform their residents about the agreements that are in place regarding fireworks in the Nieuwstraat at New Year's Eve.

A one-time blanket ban on fireworks applies to the Kerkrade side of the street - according to national guidelines. The municipality of Herzogenrath has drafted an ordinance stating that the carrying and setting off of fireworks is prohibited in the Nieuwstraat and immediate vicinity.
