Emergency Energy Fund 2024 open for applications

The Temporary Emergency Energy Fund is open again for applications for compensation for high energy bills. Applications can be submitted through March 31, 2024. The Temporary Emergency Energy Fund is for low-income households with high energy bills. The Emergency Fund helps you avoid energy debts. 

The Emergency Fund gives households assistance with part of their energy bills. The Emergency Fund looks at utility bills for gas, heat and electricity. And at the income of the adults in your household. If the difference is too great, your energy supplier will reduce part of the energy bill for a period of six months. 

How do you qualify?

Eligibility for assistance is based on the amount of utility bills relative to income. The following households may receive assistance from the Emergency Fund:

  • The household has an income of up to 200% of the social minimum. This means that the gross monthly income is lower than € 3,200 (single person) or € 4,480 (couple). This includes 8% vacation allowance.
  • The household has an energy contract for gas, electricity or heat in the name of a person in the household.
  • Energy costs from the energy supplier exceed 8 or 10 percent of gross income per month.
  • It does not matter which energy supplier a household has.

On the website www.noodfondsenergie.nl you will find all the information needed to make an application. At the end of your application, you will immediately see whether you have a chance of support. You don't have to do anything more. We send your application to your energy supplier. Your energy supplier checks your energy data. The Emergency Energy Fund checks your application. Has your application been approved? Then your energy supplier will deduct the support from your energy bill for a period of six months.
