Signing Declaration of Intent for the Approach to Violence in Dependency Relationships
On Wednesday, Dec. 11, an important step was taken in South Limburg in addressing violence in dependency relationships. Sixteen South Limburg municipalities, together with Health and safety organizations, signed the Declaration of Intent "Cooperation in the Approach to Violence in Dependency Relationships." Employees of the municipality of Kerkrade also signed this declaration on behalf of our municipality. The declaration is an important step towards realizing the regional vision "Together strong, everyone safe 2024-2031" and the implementation plan for the coming years.
Violence in dependency relationships
Violence in dependency relationships is unfortunately common and can come in various forms, including physical, psychological, emotional and financial violence. It is a problem that requires a long-term and collaborative approach. The signing of the letter of intent highlights the joint responsibility of municipalities, Health and Safety professionals and civil society organizations to prevent, detect early and stop violence.
What do we want to achieve?
Through this collaboration, we aim to break the cycle of violence and create a safe environment for all. We do this by recognizing violence early, addressing the underlying problems and providing safety and recovery for victims. We want everyone in South Limburg, from young to old, to feel safe.
Together Strong
We cannot do this alone. In addition to municipalities, healthcare institutions, security services, civil society organizations and experts by experience are involved in the approach. And there is room for even more partners to join, for example from education or health care.
The joint ambition is to make the South Limburg region safer in the coming years and to ensure that violence no longer has a place in our society. As a region, we have been working together for a long time and will continue to work together to achieve safety for all.
Together strong, for a safe South Limburg!
