Research on opportunities and desires urban sports park at Flexiforum
In Kerkrade, an investigation is beginning into the possibility of developing an urban sports park near the Flexiforum. The idea stems from the newly presented Urban City Scan, which includes all urban activities in Parkstad. Kerkrade, like the other municipalities in Parkstad, would like to give more space to activities for young people and urban sports.
What does the research involve?
Everyone's ideas are important and can help in the layout of the urban sports park. The goal is to make a place where everyone feels at home and where everyone can play sports, move and experience. The ideas of urban sportspeople and the users of the Flexiforum are indispensable, which is why we will first engage with these groups. When there is a clear picture of the wishes of the users of the space, we will also start talking to local residents.
The research into the opportunities and desires for the urban sports park is being led by urban research firm LINES by CityLegends. The research bureau is working together with the Flexiforum, the Vie Innovatie Hub Parkstad and the municipality of Kerkrade.
What falls under urban sports and culture?
Urban sports and culture include activities such as skateboarding, freerun, BMX, hip-hop, dance, music and graffiti. Sports, culture and social connection are all connected in the urban lifestyle. Especially young people aged 13 to 24 feel at home in this.
