Unveiling sign Hiking and bike gathering place
On Tuesday (May 30), Alderman Alexander Geers and some members of the Kerkrade North Residents' Platform unveiled the Walking-Bicycle Collection Area sign. The sign is on the square near the Socio Project in Eygelshoven.
The Walking and Cycling Meeting Place sign is an initiative against loneliness by the Kerkrade North Residents' Platform. Every Monday and Thursday, people who want to walk or cycle can meet each other here at 10:00 am. The walking or cycling route is not organized, and thus takes place on one's own initiative.
Municipality of Kerkrade wholeheartedly supports this initiative. Alderman Alexander Geers (Traffic and Transport): "Creating a gathering place/point as a starting point for joint walks or bicycle rides fits exactly within the framework of VIE. It is important that people keep moving so that they are vital for longer. The initiative also helps fight loneliness. We hope that many people will make use of it."
