Unveiling plaque Mining Wall State Mine Wilhelmina and HAMSCHACHT II
Mine wall of the state mine Wilhelmina
This is the remnant of the former mine wall (cooling nut) and is the last remnant on Kerkrade territory of the first state mine of the Netherlands: State Mine Wilhelmina. The mine was in operation from 1906 to 1969. The wall stands parallel to path that once connected Staatsmijnstraat to the entrance of the mine at Casinolaan and served as a closing wall around the mining yard.

Also, a plaque for the HAMSCHACHT II
This is the remnant of Ham shaft ll of the Willem Sophia mine, which operated from 1902 to 1970 and had a total of 5 shafts. The shaft was deepened in March 1940 and served as an air supply shaft to the 105 meter floor and was located 1.5 km west of the Willem Sophia mine.
The diameter of this shaft was 4.25 meters with a depth of 73 meters. In 1964, due to the diversion of the air flow in the mine, the shaft was used as an air extraction shaft.
Ham Shaft I belonged to the Ham Mine (1862-1881) and was located in the present embankment of the Millions Line trace.
