Reception of a delegation from the "30th Infantry Division Association, Old Hickory"

Yesterday we received a delegation from the 30th Infantry Division, also known as the "Old Hickory" Division. The American delegation included Private First Class Kenneth Thayer, Brigadier General Wes Morrison, Colonel Paul Hollenack and Major Charley Noble, president of the "30th Infantry Division Association, Old Hickory."

Kenneth Thayer (99) is an American veteran who helped liberate Kerkrade in 1944. His unit played an important role in the struggle to liberate the Netherlands from German occupation 80 years ago. In Kerkrade, this specifically began on Oct. 4. Now, 80 years later, Kenneth Thayer tells his impressive stories in Kerkrade.

Kenneth Thayer is one of the oldest survivors of this delegation and was therefore asked to sign in our Golden Book.
