Jumbo also introduces the Vie shelf

Once again, a supermarket in Kerkrade is introducing the Vie shelf. Jumbo Kerkrade Centrum and Jumbo Kerkrade West - following Albert Heijn XL Kerkrade - are offering healthy Vie recipes (meals) starting Tuesday, May 3. Increasingly, Vie and its partners are working together on the health and vitality of Kerkrade and Parkstad residents.

Supermarket manager & owner Jos Geraets of the two Jumbo stores says: "We like to seek cooperation with local, social projects that promote the health and well-being of our customers. Vie is one such nice social project. An initiative of the municipality of Kerkrade in which the residents of Kerkrade and Parkstad are supported over a long period of time to achieve better health. And that through exercise and a better lifestyle. Good nutrition is of course part of this. By offering healthy, affordable and tasty Vie recipes, we take our responsibility in this."

Vie - Living on the Move is the large-scale health and vitality project of the municipality of Kerkrade. The objective is to reduce the health gap between Kerkrade and Parkstad compared to the rest of the Netherlands. This is done in about forty programs focusing on health and vitality in the broad sense.

Healthy recipes

Every two weeks the Vie shelf offers two tasty, easy, affordable and above all healthy recipes. Complete with preparation method and shopping list. Vie is responsible for the composition of the recipes. These are clearly visible and recognizable in the store, with the ingredients in the same place. The start is Tuesday, May 3 through May 17 with Bean Casserole and Sweet and Sour Vegetables with Fried Fish and Rice. From May 18 through May 31, the menu includes Omelet with Fried Vegetables and Cod with Zucchini and Cheese.

Alderman Huub Wiermans: "Jumbo is already embracing the ideas of Vie, which of course makes us very happy. More and more residents come into contact with Vie in an accessible way and see what healthy food can do for them. You don't change a lifestyle overnight, but these Jumbo outlets and Albert Heijn XL Kerkrade show people that healthy eating is one of the possibilities."

Vie has the ambition to expand the Vie shelf to even more supermarkets. Sports clubs and gas stations in Kerkrade and Parkstad can also become partners and opt for the Vie shelf.
