MEE Zuid-Limburg is also here to help you
It's always nice when someone thinks along with you and helps you get things back on track. Especially when you encounter a situation or problem that is difficult to solve on your own. You can call on the help of a Meedenker (Thinking Partner) free of charge. A Meedenker can put you in touch with MEE Zuid-Limburg. Daline tells us more about her role and the support a client support worker can offer.

At MEE, we support people with disabilities. In Kerkrade, we do this for people with autism, acquired brain injury (ABI), or intellectual disabilities. The questions we receive are related to the disability. Think of arranging Health, applying for an indication, or learning to cope with the disability. We also think broadly. For example: what help is available for a boy with autism who lives at home? Or how Health my day after being diagnosed with NAH? How do I tell my family what NAH means?
We can help people in various ways. Most people are familiar with the image of personal conversations in social services. But we do more than that. For example, we organize the "Think, Feel, Do" training course specifically for people with autism. During this training, participants learn about their strengths and weaknesses in social interactions, how to use their talents, communication, and barriers to thinking and doing.
In addition to professional client support workers, MEE also employs experts by experience. These are people who are themselves familiar with a diagnosis. They have undergone special training, which allows them to accompany clients to meetings. The strength of experts by experience is that they have a good sense of what the other person is going through. It is often a 'feast of recognition', according to one of the experts by experience.
