On the bike during Mini Library Day in Kerkrade

Cycle through Kerkrade past eight places where there is a Minibieb. And maybe you'll find a nice gift at one of those places. This Saturday, June 5, is the national Minibieb Day and Kerkrade is participating in a sporty way.

A scenic bicycle route has been set up along eight places in Kerkrade where there is a Minibieb.

Alderman Jo Schlangen and children's mayor Hidde Sieler, along with organizer Marleen Fischer, will kick off the bike trail at 10 a.m. at the Minibieb in City Park.

The Day of the Minibieb is being held for the second time this year. You can think of it a little bit like an Open House, but outside at a Minibieb. Low-threshold activities are organized. It is a chance for visitors to get to know the person behind the bookcase or to get in touch with each other and exchange books.

The purpose of the Minibieb is to further encourage book reading in Kerkrade. Residents or visitors to the neighborhood can borrow, lend, exchange or leave books at the Minibieb. A place where everyone can make each other happy with books. In this way, reading becomes low-threshold and accessible.

During the day, small gifts will be hidden in various Minibiebs. It could be a poster, a bookmark or even a nicely wrapped book. New things will be hidden several times. The organization is in the hands of volunteer Marleen Fischer. The presents are sponsored by Bookstore Deurenberg, Publisher Lemniscaat and children's book writer and illustrator Mark Janssen. There may, of course, be a bike ride other than June 5. Just keep in mind that some Minibiebs are in a location that is not always open.
If you participate, do keep in mind the regulations in the country regarding the coronavirus. Keep your distance and wash your hands before your visit.

Do you have questions about the Minibiebs in Kerkrade? Or do you have a Minibieb of your own that you would like to connect with? Feel free to contact Marleen Fischer at marleenenaagje@gmail.com

Throughout the country there are activities at various Minibiebs. On the website www.dagvandeminibieb.nl you can see which other Minibiebs are participating.
