Open data
Gemeentearchief Kerkrade makes archive accesses of archives and further accesses to a large number of genealogical sources originating from and relating to the municipality of Kerkrade and former municipality of Eygelshoven available as 'open data' on its website. Making this 'open data' available by municipal archives Kerkrade is done pursuant to the 'Reuse of Government Information Act' (Who) of June 24, 2015.
What is open data?
Open data are data that are freely available with a minimum of restrictions. With governments, this refers to government information that is public, not subject to copyright or other third-party rights, paid for with public funds and created in the performance of the public task. Open data are preferably computer-readable and comply with open standards so that they can be easily reused.
Requirements to open data
Gemeentearchief Kerkrade makes open data available under a Creative Commons license. It is license CC BY-SA 4.0. This means:
- Attribution: users must credit the creator of the work, provide a link to the license, and indicate whether the work has been altered. You may do so in a reasonable manner, but not in such a way as to give the impression that the licensor agrees with your work or your use of the work.
- EqualShare: if you have remixed, altered, or built upon the work, you must distribute the altered material under the same license as the original work.
What data is available as open data?
- Civil registry of the municipality of Kerkrade and (former) municipality of Eygelshoven
- Collection of prayer cards
- Miscellaneous inventories
Kerkrade Municipal Archives' open data are a work in progress. Other collections and data will also be offered as open data in the near future. These will then also be added to this page. The open data are also subject to change due to expansion of the collection or correction of reported errors. After processing, the new records will be included in the offered open data files.
