Opening new mini library Flexiforum
Next Saturday is the national mini library day. For this special occasion there will be a new mini library in Kerkrade. At 2 p.m., the mini library will be officially opened by Alderman Schlangen.
Children's book author Mark Janssen reads aloud
From 2 to 4 p.m., children's book author and illustrator Mark Janssen will be present at the opening. He will read from some of his books and make illustrations together with the children. Children can color and all children present will receive a lottery ticket. A total of 5 book packages will be raffled, made available by Boekhandel Deurenberg. There will also be something to drink and something tasty for all children. Do you have a book by Mark Janssen at home? Bring it along and he will sign it. Admission is free!
Minibiebs encourage book reading
Residents or visitors to the neighborhood can borrow, exchange or leave books at the Minibieb. In this way, reading becomes low-threshold and accessible. The Minibiebs for children are affiliated with Kinder Zwerfboek. They sponsor a book package packed with new books twice a year.
Alderman Schlangen (education/culture): "Reading is like riding a bike; you only learn it by doing it. That is why it is important that initiatives such as the mini library make reading accessible. After all, reading expands your vocabulary, stimulates your imagination and ensures that you can learn well at school.
