Opening school library SBO Arcadia

On Friday, October 21, the new school library of SBO Arcadia was officially opened by Alderman Jo Schlangen. This school library was made possible by the municipality of Kerkrade and was realized in cooperation with the Library Kerkrade e.o.

Alderman Schlangen: "For many pupils in special (primary) education, reading is not a natural activity. An own school library with a selection of books tailored to this target group is therefore of great importance. The school library contributes to the reduction and prevention of language deficits, but above all we want to use it to increase the pleasure of reading among students as much as possible."

At the library opening, a storytelling workshop for middle school students was given by Mark Janssen, children's book author and illustrator. Mark creates illustrations for both children's and picture books and also writes his own picture books.

Lower and upper school students were read to by author Frank Vester. Frank Vester writes books for all ages.

The children enjoyed these interactive workshops and were proud to meet real children's book authors in their school.
